Steven Gerrard sends class message to Liverpool heroes after historic Barcelona win

STEVEN GERRARD was spotted at Anfield for Liverpool's unbelievable 4-0 win over Barcelona to send them through to the Champions League final, and he had a special message for Jurgen Klopp's side after the historic result.

The stage was set at Anfield for another memorable evening of Champions League football, but nobody foresaw the game panning out the way it did.
Liverpool got off to the best start possible with Divock Origi tapping in from close range inside seven minutes.
That cranked up the atmosphere inside the stadium another notch, with Barcelona struggling to cope with Liverpool's continued pressure.
Still, the Spanish champions went in at half-time in control of the tie with the aggregate score 3-1 in their favour.

Andy Robertson was forced off with an injury at the break, with Jurgen Klopp throwing on Georginio Wijnaldum - a substitution which turned the game on its head.
The crafty midfielder made an instant impact, popping up with two goals inside two minutes to bring Liverpool level with the tie set to go to extra-time with the scores as they were.
At that moment, cameras panned to Liverpool legend and Rangers manager Gerrard sitting in the stands to watch his boyhood club.
He was sat - like most Liverpool fans - with his head in his hands not quite sure of how to make of what he was witnessing.

But then the unthinkable happened in the most unimaginable and ingenious bit of play from Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The full-back's quick thinking at a corner caught everyone in the entire stadium unaware with a quick set-piece to find Origi in the box, who neatly slotted the ball into the top corner to send Anfield into pandemonium.
The Reds were able to hold off a 10-minute spell of pressure from Barcelona to pull off one of the biggest Champions League comebacks in the history of the competition.
Gerrard himself was involved in quite a few memorable European nights during his Anfield career, namely the 2005 Champions League final.

And the 38-year-old had a special message for Klopp's heroes, taking to Instagram to post his congratulations.
"To a man the redmen were simply incredible," he wrote.
"Wow @liverpoolfc ❤️ what a team "
